Overview

Physiotherapy course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become competent physiotherapists. This degree program includes both theoretical and practical components. Students are taught about human anatomy, physiology, pathology, biomechanics, pharmacology, clinical assessment, exercise prescription, rehabilitation techniques, and health promotion.

Physiotherapy is the branch of medicine that deals with the study of human movement and its function. This includes the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disorders related to the musculoskeletal system. In other words, physiotherapists are experts at helping people recover from injuries and illnesses that affect their muscles, bones, joints, tendons, ligaments, nerves, and blood vessels. They can help patients who have suffered from sports-related injuries, car accidents, work-related injuries, and even diseases like arthritis and cancer.

Scope of Physiotherapy

  • The scope of a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become competent practitioners of physiotherapy.
  • This course provides students with the opportunity to develop their clinical reasoning skills and apply them to the assessment and management of patients presenting with musculoskeletal disorders.
  • Students are able to identify common musculoskeletal conditions and understand how they can be treated using appropriate evidence-based practice. They gain experience in the use of diagnostic imaging modalities including X-ray, ultrasound, MRI, and CT scanning.
  • Students learn about the principles of exercise prescription and rehabilitation strategies. Students have the opportunity to participate in patient care activities under supervision.
  • Students will be expected to demonstrate competence in the application of basic life support skills and first aid procedures.
